13 Aug 2019 Unstoppable! Yamaha MLT Racing dominates ZIC Motorbike Race 2 with 1-2 finish
On 10 August, ZIC Motorbike Race 1 was an exciting affair and still fresh on everyone's minds. Today race 2 is just as good. The fans and spectators cheer the riders on for the entire race. In the morning practice, Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo and his teammate Li Zhong showed good form, they went on to dominate the main race and finish 1-2. |
ZIC Motorbike Race 2 commences at 4:55 p.m.. The race distance is 10 laps and 38 riders are taking part. At the start, the top 3 riders get through turn 1 smoothly without a change of order. But #85 Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo begins to close in on #47 Zhang Yao. At turn 3 Chen Chu-Fei, #22 Mu Rong Zhi-Zhao, #18 Hu Tong-Ming clash and the marshals show the yellow flag. Fortunately the incident has not affected the progress of the race. At turn 14, #85 Wang Yi-Bo uses his straight line speed advantage to overtake #47 Zhang Yao and takes second place overall. When Zhang Yao tries to get his place back, he unfortunately slides off the track and is out of contention for second place. In the next few laps, with his greatest threat out of the way, Wang Yi-Bo goes quicker and quicker. Li Zhong and Wang Yi-Bo now have firm grips on the top 2 positions. At this point the second group begin to fight fiercely. #151 Hu Shu-Shen closes in on #47 Zhang Yao for third place overall. Class C competition also intensifies. #23 Chen Peng-Ji, #20 Lin Hui and #26 Anson Law have great battles in some of the corners. Later #23 Chen Peng-Ji suffers a mechanical problem and has to retire from the race, but his teammate Lin Hui successfully gets himself into the Class C leader position. |
At half distance, overall leader #777 Li Zhong goes even quicker with a 1:55.577 fastest lap, the fastest of the race. #85 Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo also manages a 1:58.727. The other riders are also going faster, with both #47 Zhang Yao and #151 Hu Shu-Shen get their lap times down to sub 2 minutes. Third place overall is still in flux. In the end, Yamaha MLT Racing #777 Li Zhong takes victory again, #85 Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo goes one step better and takes second place overall. Third place in the end goes to #47 Zhang Yao of Donghe Xiuyuan Speed Ghost Racing Team. |
For the various classes, class A top 3 are #47 Zhang Yao, #5 Xie Liang-Neng and FS.D Racing #6 Zhang Lang. Class B top 3 are Yamaha MLT Racing #777 Li Zhong, FS.D Racing #151 Hu Shu-Shen and 794 Racing Team #77 Yu Chun-Ho In class C, the top 3 are Tieren Racing #20 Lin Hui, Tianda TDR300 Factory Racing Team #26 Anson Law and HRT TDR300 - Happy Racing Team #38 Tan Yan-Hua. For class D, the top 3 are #85 Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo, Ace Motorcycle #45 Huang Jie-Cai and #32 Jiang Jia-He. |
After the race, overall champion #777 Yamaha MLT Racing Li Zhong said, "There was no trouble in this race and achieved my and the team's expected results. Next we will have more intense traning for the Pan Delta Autumn Race in September. I will prepare seriously and try to win the Speed Hero CL1 class championship." |
Second overall and class D winner #85 Yamaha MLT Racing star rider Wang Yi-Bo said, "In this race I used my knowledge gained in race 1. My stamina was not a problem this time and I made a good start. Later in the race I got into my rhythm and took second overall. Next year if this event is held again, I will return to come and race." On the podium, thousands of fans from all over the country cheer for their star and will not leave for a long time afterwards. Third overall, class A winner Donghe Xiuyuan Speed Ghost Racing #47 Zhang Yao said, "I was a little anxious on lap 1 and made a few mistakes. But later on I found my rhythm and made a breakthrough, setting my own personal best lap. The atmosphere of the race is very good and the fans are very passionate. I have never experienced something like this." Fifth overall and class C winner Tieren Racing #20 Lin Hui said, "In the first half of the race actually I fought with my teammate Chen Peng-Ji. But later his motorbike suffered a mechanical problem and I took the opportunity to win the class. I want to thank ZIC Motorbike Race to allow small racing teams like ours to come and race at this professional circuit. I am very happy." |
ZIC Motorbike Race thus closes its curtains. Yamaha MLT Racing are the biggest winners with its star rider Wang Yi-Bo winning class D champion twice.
