24 Mar 2019 Accident filled race is red flagged | Circuit Hero-Two Anson Wong takes win
Circuit Hero-Two has always been known as the pillar of strength of the Circuit Hero race series. Appropriately it is the last race in the 2019 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race. The track condition has gradually improved and drivers are more comfortable and therefore more able to demonstrate their skills. At 15:10 on 24th March, the last race of the Circuit Hero race series in the 2019 Pan Delta Super Racing Festival Spring Race officially commences.
As the race begins, turn 1 sees a multitude of incidents. 13Racing Full Bore Racing #86 Zhuang Xue-Fu and #21 Hu Wei-Xiong are both eliminated from the proceedings. The race organizers deploy the safety car. Before the safety car intervention, #44 Chen Jia-Ping is the race leader with #59 Anson Wong down in third place.
Two laps later, the safety car retreats to the pit lane and the race is back on. The leading trio are running close to each other. Jack’s Racing #17 Chung Tak-Ho tries to overtake many times without success. #59 Anson Wong also makes his move and is up to second place. Not long after, at turn 11, #59 Anson Wong and #44 Chen Jia-Ping has a coming together and Chen Jia-Ping almost loses his rear bumper in the process. Anson Wong is now in the lead while Chen Jia-Ping is down in fourth place.
Just before half distance, Winson Motorsport #95 Feng Jian-Liang has to retire due to a mechanical problem. 13Racing Full Bore Racing #77 Xie Zheng-Ge’s race car is too heavily damaged to continue, after an accident with #8 Tan Ying-Fa’s race car. Leader Anson Wong’s race car also appear to lock up its right front wheel in the corners and the situation appears difficult. The top 3 for now is #59 Anson Wong, #17 Chung Tak-Ho and #44 Chen Jia-Ping.
In the final moments of the race, #59 Anson Wong enjoys a healthy advantage and the focus is on the battle among 3rd to 5th places. #36 Chen Bing-Xiong, who had a poor qualifying session, has made his way up to eighth place after a series of overtaking moves. But very unfortunately his car suffered a mechanical failure and he stopped in the middle of the main straight and has to retire from the race. Because his car is stopped at a dangerous position, the race organizers shows the red flag to stop the race.
In the end, #59 Anson Wong, Jack’s Racing #17 Chung Tak-Ho, Champ X T.A Motorsport #7 Chung Wing-Keung complete the top 3 of Circuit Hero-Two. In the A1 class, #59 Anson Wong Champ X T.A Motorsport #7 Chung Wing-Keung and 13Racing Full Bore Racing #51 Li Jia-Cheng are the top 3. In A2 class, the top 3 are Jack’s Racing #17 Chung Tak-Ho, #44 Chen Jia-Ping and #69 Lin Zhan-Peng respectively.
After the race, Anson Wong said, “The early accident in the race actually affected my car a little, the tyre had a small problem and I was actually going slower and slower. I was very lucky to have won the race. I have been racing in Pan Delta for a long time and hopefully I can maintain my good form for the summer race and get another good result.”
